"Accepting Federal
Nutrition Assistance
Benefits at
Farmers’ Markets
in Maryland"

Five farmers’ markets in Baltimore City and two in Baltimore County are working with Maryland Hunger Solutions to accept food stamp benefits and debit purchases via wireless EBT (electronic benefit transfer) machines. This season, the seven markets listed below are offering Baltimore Bucks incentives, allowing customers shopping with their EBT/Independence Cards to double their food stamp dollars up to $10 at the market. Individual farmers at these markets also accept WIC Fruit and Vegetable Checks (FVC), in addition to the WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers.

This project is sponsored by Maryland Hunger Solutions and is made possible by support from the Abell Foundation, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, and the Wholesome Wave Foundation.

Help Promote the Baltimore Bucks Incentive Program

Your organization can help spread the word about markets that accept EBT and provide Baltimore Bucks by distributing brochures or posting flyers (to download, see box at right) featuring each of the seven markets working with Maryland Hunger Solutions. The black and white brochure describes the program and lists participating markets in the Baltimore area. Maryland Hunger Solutions will happily attend community events or give presentations at your organization about using Food Supplement Program benefits at participating farmers’ markets.
