Somerset County is Leading the Effort to End Child Hunger

Somerset County Public Schools (SCPS) is the first public school system in Maryland to implement the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) system-wide. As a result, SCPS will provide free school breakfast and lunch to all students this coming school year. CEP creates Hunger-Free Schools and strengthens the entire community by promoting health and wellness, as well as offering financial support to families. The need is great – over 31% of Somerset’s population reside in a food desert, 18% are food insecure, and 19% rely on SNAP. Please join us in celebrating Somerset County’s leadership in addressing these needs and making strides towards ending child hunger!
