BALTIMORE, January 19, 2023 Maryland Hunger Solutions celebrates the historic inauguration of Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller.  Moore is the first African American governor elected in Maryland, and Miller is the first woman of color and the first South Asian woman in the role.  This is a promising and exciting new chapter in Maryland’s history.

Maryland Hunger Solutions looks forward to working with the Moore-Miller administration and the legislature    to end hunger in our state. We will continue to advocate for bold policy solutions that strengthen and expand access to the proven federal nutrition programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), school meals and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), as well as policies to address the root causes of hunger.  We also applaud the focus on ending childhood poverty. Ending child poverty would have a impact on the lives of children, as well as families throughout our state.

We look forward to helping the Moore-Miller Administration to leave no one behind.
